Power has been restored to more than 7000 properties in Porirua.
Earlier, Wellington Electricity said its distribution had been affected by a fault at one of Transpower's major power supply points earlier this afternoon.
The power outage affected 7377 properties in suburbs including Pauatahanui, Plimmerton, Mana, Titahi Bay, Whitby and other areas north of Wellington.
By 2pm, Transpower said the power was restored.
It thanked people for their patience during the outage.
