A logging truck has crashed into a herd of cattle on State Highway 2 between Opotiki and Gisborne, the Automobile Association reports.
The crash happened on the Opotiki side of the Waioeka Gorge at 7.15am on Wednesday.
One lane was closed for a time while the road was cleared of injured and dead animals. Police say five cows had to be put down.
