An American student seriously injured in a skiing accident at Mt Hutt last Thursday has died in Christchurch Hospital.
Ski area manager Dave Wilson says the skifield staff are devastated, and he feels terribly sorry for the woman's family and friends.
The 21-year-old suffered serious head injuries when she slid 130 metres over rocks.
Mr Wilson says the skifield will work with police to investigate the accident.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday.
A 60-year-old Christchurch man died after his car left the skifield access road last Monday.
