Police investigating the death of a man in Oxford, north of Christchurch, have found clothing relevant to the homicide 50km away in the suburb of Richmond.
The body of Sameera Chandrasena, 28, was found last Wednesday after a fire at the Dominion Road property that he rented from his employer.
It is believed Mr Chandrasena died as a result of an assault before the fire.
Police are also appealing for sightings of a white Mitsubishi Chariot, which has since been impounded, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
