The Electoral Commission has rejected the Conservative Party's bid for an alternative logo, ruling it could confuse and mislead voters.

The Conservatives had applied to have a blue speech bubble with the word "vote" inside to appear beside their name on the ballot papers.
The Electoral Commission received almost 150 submissions, all in opposition to the logo. It said the use of the word "vote" could be viewed as instructive and therefore be confusing to voters.
The decision means the logo will not appear on the ballot paper - however the Conservatives can continue to use it in their campaign material.
