Labour surges to new levels of support in latest poll

A new political poll shows a big jump in support for the Labour Party.

The 1 News Colmar Brunton poll has Labour up nine points to 48 percent, while National has slipped three points to 43 percent.

It's bad news for the government's support partners, with the Greens down two points to 5 percent, and New Zealand First down two to 3 percent.

Jacinda Ardern continues to increase in popularity with a four percentage point increase in the preferred Prime Minister poll to 41 percent.

Outgoing National Party leader Bill English slipped down eight points to 20 percent.

The poll was conducted between 10 and 14 February, with Mr English making his resignation announcement on 13 February.
