The latest ballot for member's bills has drawn one that would get GST taken off healthy food and another that would give greater protection to conservation land from mining.

Maori Pary MP Rahui Katene's bill would remove the goods and services tax from foods including fruit and vegetables, breads and cereals, milk and some milk products, lean meat and seafood, nuts, seeds and legumes.

Meanwhile, Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei has a bill which would require an Act of Parliament to remove conservation land from Schedule 4 of the Crown Minierals Act once it has been gazetted.

The Government is currently considering whether to open up Crown land in Schedule 4 to mining.
