Police are seeking information on a German tourist who left a worrying message in a hut log on Tuesday while tramping near Nelson.
They believe Esther Gehrmann is tramping in the Mount Starveall area of the Mount Richmond Ranges south of Nelson.
Ms Gehrmann, who is in her early 40s, left a message in the Mount Starveall hut log-book on Tuesday 10 March that has raised concerns for her welfare.
The alarm was raised last night by another tramper.
Police believe Ms Gehrmann intended to walk south towards Saint Arnaud, but no-one on the track has seen her.
Anyone with information should call the police in Nelson.
