South Island police are searching for a man reported missing after a four year absence.

Police say 31-year-old Dunedin man Tim Wallis was last seen in August 2010 at a fish and chip shop on Hillside Road and had not used his bank accounts since.
They said Mr Wallis had often been out of contact with his family and he may be actively avoiding being found or the victim of foul play.
Mr Wallis was described as 185 centimetres tall, of a thin build and brown hair, and bearing distinctive tattoos including a pentagram on the back of his left hand, graffiti style writing on his neck and a tiger on his right cheek.
