Police have recovered the body of a hunter reported missing near Lake Sumner in North Canterbury.
The hunter was due to return home on Sunday, but failed to return. Family called the police yesterday.
Police and search and rescue did an aerial search of the area where the hunter was understood to be, and found the body.
Poor light made it unsafe to recover the body last night, but the police returned today and the body was recovered by helicopter.
The death was referred to the coroner and the police were investigating.
