A man has been arrested following an attack in Te Kuiti which left another man with serious head injuries.
Police said officers were called out to the main street at about 7pm yesterday to deal with some locals fighting.
They said the officers came across the seriously injured man on nearby Rora Street.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead said a 20-year-old Te Kuiti man has been arrested and charged with wounding and will appear in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday.
The 45-year-old victim is now in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital.
