A fire at an adult literacy centre in the Auckland suburb of Glen Innes this morning was started after a stolen car was parked next to it and torched, police say.
Neighbour Greg Gray told RNZ News he heard a very loud explosion about 6am and saw a car had burst into flames - which then spread to a nearby building.
Four fire appliances were called to the blaze on Maybury Street.
The fire has been put out.
No one was in the car or the building at the time, police said.
