An annual Easter rabbit hunt accounted for almost 15,000 rabbits in Central Otago at the weekend.
Thirty nine teams of 12 shooters took to the hills and flats around Alexandra during the weekend and bagged a total of 14,799 rabbits over 24 hours.
However, the haul was well short of the 1997 Easter total when almost 24,000 were dispatched.
The winning team, accounted for 978 rabbits, 24 hares, four stoats and four possums.
