PGG looks to make irrigation gains

2:31 pm on 19 September 2013

PGG Wrightson is moving to grab a bigger slice of the action as the country moves towards more irrigation in agriculture.

It has boosted the irrigation side of its company by purchasing Water Dynamics and Aquaspec.

Chief executive Mark Dewdney says the acquisitions will give the company a footprint in the North Island, particularly Hawke's Bay and Waikato.

He says the company is keen to be part of the growth in irrigation it expects as new irrigation schemes in certain parts of the country come on board, supported by the Government.

Mr Dewdney says the irrigation wing of PGG Wrightson almost doubled its profits last year.
