Team NZ second after day one in Naples

11:45 am on 19 April 2013

Team New Zealand is in a good position after the opening day of the sole America's Cup World Series event of 2013 in Naples.

Nine boats were on the line for fleet racing for the start of the four-day regatta.

Dean Barker and his crew won the first race, just edging out Oracle Team USA, and finished fourth in the second race, which was won by JP Morgan BAR, skippered by Ben Ainslie.

The result sees Team New Zealand finish the first day in second place overall, just one point off the lead from BAR Ben Ainslie Racing, and Luna Rossa Piranha third.

Match racing starts tonight with a quarter-final race against Luna Rossa followed by two more fleet races.
