England coach calls on ICC to change light regulations

5:57 am on 27 August 2013

The England coach Andy Flower has called on the International Cricket Council to change the regulations regarding bad light after his side narrowly missed out on a dramatic victory in the final Ashes test.

Chasing 227 after a bold declaration from Australia captain Michael Clarke, England were 21 runs short of their target with four overs remaining when bad light forced the players off the field at the Oval.

Flower says the wording around the law needs to change and they've been discussing the matter .

He says the word dangerous needs to be removed and replaced by something like whether the contest between bat and ball is fair.

The return Ashes series begins in Brisbane on November 21st.
