The New Zealand cricketers have ended their tour of Bangladesh with their first victory, winning the one-off Twenty20 match in Dhaka by 15 runs.

The Black Caps' 204 for five, their second-highest T20 total, featured an unbeaten 73 off 39 balls from Colin Munro, and 59 off 31 balls from debutant Colin Devcich.

Pace bowler Tim Southee rocked the home side by dismissing both openers in his first over, and they lost a third wicket in the second over before recovering to end up with 189 for nine.

A crowd of 35,000 watched the final tour match in the National Stadium.

Stand-in skipper Kyle Mills won the toss and batted first at the National Cricket Stadium.

All-rounder Jimmy Neesham wasn't considered for the match due to a groin injury, while Hamish Rutherford and Tim Southee came back into the XI after missing the final one dayer on Sunday.

The Black Caps now head for Sri Lanka where Mills will lead them again in three one dayers and two T20 games.

The first one dayer is on Sunday.
