Jamaican anti-doping to be "beefed up."

World Anti-Doping Agency president John Fahey says Jamaica has dropped the ball in its drug testing regime.

Speaking at a conference in South Africa, Fahey says WADA is seeking to put the island nation's anti doping system's back in place.

Former 100 metres world record holder Asafa Powell, three-times Olympic gold medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown and Olympic relay gold medallist Sherone Simpson are among six Jamaican athletes who have tested positive for banned substances this year.

Jamaica's most senior drug tester Dr Paul Wright says the country's recent rash of failed tests might be the tip of the iceberg.

Fahey, who will be replaced by International Olympic Committee (IOC) vice president Craig Reedie at the end of the three-day conference, says there's a recognition in Jamaica that they have to do a whole lot better.

He says WADA will help Jamaica's anti doping authorities to beef up their programme and skill set.
