Ferguson's NRL career in tatters

5:58 am on 12 December 2013

Former National Rugby League star Blake Ferguson's been found guilty of indecent assault in a Sydney Court and is now awaiting sentence, and his career in the code in Australia looks to be over.

Ferguson had the league world at his feet when he made his State of Origin debut in May, but now his career is in tatters, and the NRL has condemned the behaviour of the former Canberra and New South Wales star.

Integrity unit chief Jim Doyle's made it clear Ferguson's guilty verdict will work against him if he's planning a comeback in 2014.

The NRL suspended Ferguson earlier this year for repeated alcohol offences, and the centre was ultimately sacked by Canberra after refusing to report for club duties.

So far the NRL hasn't been notified of a contract for Ferguson next year, despite South Sydney, Cronulla, the Warriors and Brisbane all being linked to his services.
