Controversial Cardiff owner takes control of Bosnian football club

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has sealed an agreement to take over the control and management of Bosnia's Premiere League football club Sarajevo.

Sarajevo general director Dino Selimovic declined to provide details on the investment but local media reported that the Malaysian billionaire has pledged to invest just over $2.5 million.

The club had been facing bankruptcy over millions in accumulated debt.

Under the deal, Cardiff will cooperate with Sarajevo, exchanging players and taking part in a yet to be established football academy which Tan says will lure new talents.

Tan has proved a controversial owner at the Welsh club, changing the team's club badge and colours and this season threatening to sack popular manager Malky Mackay.

Local media in Bosnia report that Tan does not plan to change the Bosnian club's badge and colours, as he did at Cardiff.
