The international future of All Whites defender Tommy Smith could be in doubt with New Zealand Football reiterating it's stance on club versus country.
Smith made himself unavailable for New Zealand's recent international against Japan opting to remain with his England club Ipswich Town.
He was disppointed too at having to miss a club match ahead of the All Whites World Cup playoff last year against Mexico.
New Zealand football is trying to organise a friendly for the All Whites in June, although that's not part of the FIFA window and Smith told the East Anglia Times newspaper he was unlikely to play in that match as he wanted a break.
However New Zealand Football chief executive Andy Martin hopes he'll be available.
