Warriors confirm Elliott axing

The Warriors have confirmed the axing of their coach Matthew Elliott after a disappointing start to the National Rugby League season.

He's been replaced by the assistant coach Andrew McFadden on a temporary basis.

Elliott came to the Warriors for the start of last season as the side finished 11th.

After some big off-season signings they suffered heavy defeats in their first two games this year, before upset wins over the Cowboys and the Tigers.

However Australian media reports suggest Elliott was informed on Sunday he would be replaced after the club's 37-6 thrashing to Cronulla on Saturday.
