The former All Black midfielder Alama Ieremia believes new recruit Aaron Cruden is some way off commanding a position in the All Blacks.
The 21-year Manawatu first five was a suprise selection in Graham Henry's squad for this month's tests against Ireland and Wales.
As a technical advisor for the Hurricanes, Ieremia has had a lot to do with Cruden's development during his first Super 14 season... he didn't get to start until midway through the competition.
Ieremia says it would be a big ask to expect Cruden to start a test if Dan Carter got injured....
Ieremia also thinks if they've picked him, then Benson Stanley needs to be given an opportunity at second five.
