Black Ferns beat Australia

The New Zealand women's rugby team have beaten Australia 37-3 in their opening international in Canberra.

The Black Ferns scored 5 tries and stretched their unbeaten record against Australia in women's internationals to nine since the first Trans-Tasman contest in 1994.

The Australians were competitive to start with before the New Zealand forwards took control and they scored 3 first half tries to lead 19-3 at the break.

The second game in the series will be played in Canberra on Saturday.
