Breakers to begin the defence of ANBL title on the road

The New Zealand Breakers will begin the defence of their Australian National Basketball League title next season on the road, to avoid a clash with the Rugby World Cup.

The Breakers will play their first four games away with the first match on the Gold Coast on October 7th - just as Auckland will host two World Cup quarterfinals.

They then play in Wollongong, Sydney and Melbourne, before three home games the first of which is five days after the World Cup final.

The club's general manager Richard Clarke says they'd known the opening stretch of the season would be difficult for them because of the World Cup, thought it better to begin their home season after the tournament.
