Boycott of trade fair by India and Russia

10:27 am on 28 April 2012

India and Russia have boycotted an international trade fair in Zimbabwe in protest against the country's policy of taking control of foreign companies.

However, Chinese firms have taken up 90% of the stands at the fair in Bulawayo.

The BBC reports some companies from Germany and Italy are also present.

Earlier this month, the government of President Robert Mugabe said it had taken majority ownership of foreign-owned mining firms which had not ceded a controlling stake to black Zimbabweans.
