McAfee gets 10-day reprieve in Guatemala

11:26 pm on 12 December 2012

A court in Guatemala has given American software pioneer John McAfee 10 days to sort out his immigration status in the country.

The decision could prevent him being deported to neighbouring Belize, where he is wanted for questioning in a murder inquiry, the BBC reports.

Mr McAfee has been held in detention since he entered Guatemala from Belize a week ago.

The millionaire, who was living in Belize, says he is being persecuted by the authorities there because he stopped making donations to political parties.
