Iran has executed two men convicted of spying.

The Tehran prosecutor's office said one had been in the pay of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, while the other had been working for the American CIA.

The BBC reports that both were hanged.

The statement gave no further details.

Iran has accused both Israel and the United States of sabotaging its nuclear programme.
