An asylum seeker from Myanmar (Burma) died on Saturday soon after arriving on Christmas Island.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship he was transferred from the processing area a few hours after landing to the hospital, where he later died.
AAP reports the department on Saturday evening expressed its sympathy to the man's family and said early indications were that the death was not suspicious.
