WA state govt looking to cut spending

7:53 am on 26 December 2013

Western Australian Treasurer Troy Buswell says there could be further redundancies in the state public service as a razor gang looks at what spending cuts can be made.

The ABC reports Mr Buswell wants to save $A350 million over the next four years.

The evaluation unit will determine what can be axed or what could be outsourced to the not-for profit or private sector.

Mr Buswell says it will assess what the public service is doing, starting with Corrective Services, Information and Communication Technology and employee entitlements. More details will be issued over the next six months.

The state government has already announced about 1200 jobs will be cut from the public service.
