A post-mortem examination has found neither US actor Paul Walker or the driver in their fatal car crash were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of their deaths.

A coroner's report issued on Friday said their Porsche was travelling at 160km per hour when it hit a pole and burst into flames in California on 30 November. The driver was Roger Rodas, 38.

The BBC reports both deaths have since been ruled accidents.

Walker, 40, was best known for the Fast and Furious series of high-speed car chase films.

Production on the seventh instalment was temporarily halted following his death.

Universal Pictures later announced the film's release date would be deferred several months to April 2015. Walker will appear in the film.
