A strong magnitude 6.3 earthquake has jolted northern Peru.
The US Geological Survey reports the quake struck at 7.51pm just off Peru's Pacific coast, at a depth of nine kilometres.
It was located six kilometres west of Sechura. The area is close to Peru's border with Ecuador.
AAP reports there are no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.
