For over 40 years, Rudolf Mauersberger (1889-1971) was Director of the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the boys’ choir attached to the historic Kreuzkirche. He wrote this motet in the aftermath of the Allied firebombing during World War II, which laid waste to the beautiful city of Dresden and claimed approximately 25,000 lives, including eleven members of the Kreuzchor.

Soloists: Phoebe Sparrow, Rebecca Howan, Phillip Collins, Matthew Painter
