New Zealand artist Dame Robin White is exhibiting at the United Nations in New York in conjunction with the Oceans Conference.

Co-host Fiji had invited Dame Robin to show her ocean inspired tapa works which complement the conference's aspiration towards implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14, to conserve and sustain the oceans, seas and marine resources.

The New Zealander has collaborated with other Pacific artists to demonstrate the notion of the interconnectedness of all things, and the practice of reciprocity and exchange that characterises Oceania.

With an estimated 40 per cent of the world's oceans heavily affected by unsustainable practices, global leaders gathered last week to renew momentum towards the conservation and sustainability of the world's oceans.

Robin White spoke to Dominic Godfrey about her involvement in the Oceans Conference.
