Fiji non-resident landowners remain in limbo

From , 4:04 pm on 31 January 2019

Foreign owners of land in Fiji affected by a change in land sale law are in limbo and staying away from the country.

It's more than two years since the deadline for construction of costly homes on land owned by non residents and a landowners group says many of the landowners are simply doing nothing.

His comments come following news of the death of Koro Island landowner Karen Seaton who kept fighting for a law change despite being kicked out of Fiji in 2016.

The chairman of the Fiji Land Owners Association David Rand also owns land on Koro Island and he told Sally Round his plans to set up a visual effects hub remain on ice.
