The positives and the negatives of Fiji's Budget

The Fiji government last week announced a $4.3 billion budget for the coming year with the competing priorities of servicing the country's high levels of debt whilst still trying to ease the burden of the high cost of living in the country. 

To find out how well Sitiveni Rabuka's administration did in finding a fine balance, RNZ Pacific's Rachael Nath spoke with the University of the South Pacific's senior lecturer in economics Dr Neelesh Gounder who was part of a 14 member fiscal review committee tasked by the government to develop appropriate expenditures, revenue, and taxation for the country.
