Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland says many Small Islands States live in permanent fear of being struck by natural disasters as unprecedented storms have become more common.

In June, Baroness Scotland attended the Paris Climate Finance Summit which finalised a $100 billion pledge by wealthy nations for a fund to be set up for poorer nations affected by the climat crisis.

However, leaders of climate crises devasted nations are dissatisfied with the outcome, believing debt forgiveness is needed as wealthier nations are the main contributors of green house gas emissions.
