New Zealand's Pacific peoples and health minister, Dr Shane Reti says he's ready to take action to help the region after returning from the Pacific mission where he visited Tonga, Cook Islands and Samoa with the Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters.

The first 100 days of the new coalition government is on the horizon and many Pasifika in New Zealand who voted for change say they're expecting the cost of living, and their health needs to be addressed.

Since Waitangi Day, there's been conversation about how Pasifika people can shape the nation despite the National party not having a single Pacific representative in the house.

RNZ Pacific's senior reporter Eleisha Foon has more.
