On March 1st, 1954, the US government exploded a thermonuclear weapon on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands - codenamed 'Castle Bravo'.
The nuclear test was considered to be a thousand times more powerful than the US atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Bravo test and the island nation will be holding ceremonies to commemorate the day.
It's also a day for the younger generation in the Marshall Islands to learn about the 67 US nuclear tests conducted between 1946 and 1958.
