One in five children living in homes where food runs out - report

One in five children are living in households where food can run out, and one in three are living in houses that are unaffordable for their whānau.

That's the bleak picture painted by the latest child poverty indicators report, released today. The Prime Minister and Minister for Child Poverty Reduction Jacinda Ardern insists the government is making progress to turn the statistics around.

But social services on the ground say much more action is needed to make a real difference.
