Released pets suspected as culprits for Auckland Domain rabbit problem

From Checkpoint, 5:53 pm on 24 June 2021

Wild rabbits have been a hugely problematic pest around New Zealand recently, and the problem has come as far as Auckland Domain.

Rabbits breed very quickly and are known for eating grassland to dust and eating the bark of native trees.

Other parks in the city have also seen the bunny blight. Auckland Council regional arborist and ecological manager David Stejskal is on rabbit control.

He talks to Lisa Owen.
