Three people are dead and another is fighting for their life in hospital after the shared meal in the small town of Korumburra in Victoria's South Gippsland.
Victorian Homicide Detective Inspector Dean Thomas, says police are liaising closely with medical specialists.
Police have confirmed the person who hosted the group and made the meal did not get sick.
They have searched a house and interviewed one person.
