Otorohanga College is being forced to close its rundown boarding hostel because it doesnt have the money to fix it up.
It broke the news to parents and students this afternoon after unsucessfully appealing to the Ministry of Education for financial help.
The school's suffered a $600,000 financial loss since 2019 in keeping Kainga Rua Falloon House running.
And the board says it has less than half the boarders needed to break even with operating costs.
