Meet Sue - New Zealand's top Holstein Friesian cow. She's owned by Robbie Wakelin and his brother John who, as well as breeding Holstein Friesians run a 300-cow, split-calving dairy farm in Rangiora.
Last November Sue was crowned supreme champion cow at the New Zealand Agricultural Show.
“She’s just got so much capacity, she’s so correct and she just loves going to the show,” Robbie says proudly.
The 28-year-old farmer has also been selected to attend the 15th World Holstein Friesian Federation Conference in Switzerland.
He was one of a record 17 people who were vying for the fortnight-long trip that’s being funded by Holstein Friesian NZ.
