Northland's wine industry is expanding, the region produces a tiny fraction of New Zealand's wine but it now boasts 40 keen grape growers, up from just two in the 1980s. And, a new fish screening facility in mid-Canterbury prevents fish from entering the Rangitata diversion race intake at Klondyke and being swept into the 67km-long canal scheme.
