Tsunami warnings for Pacific quakes in NZ

Yesterday the Ministry of Civil Defence was on standby for a possible tsunami threat after a magnitude 7 earthquake hit the Kermadec Islands. The Kermadecs are a chain of volcanic islands around 900 kilometres to the north-east of New Zealand. Civil Defence did issue a tsunami warning but withdrew it shortly after it was issued Joining us now from GNS is senior scientist Graham Leonard to tell us more about the Kermadecs and the threat of Tsunami from seismic activity in the area.
