The town of Wairoa in the northern Hawkes Bay area is bracing itself for a Covid-19 outbreak which modelling predicts could kill 14 people.  The national death toll for the entire pandemic sits at 65. Wairoa health officials estimate that 14 unvaccinated people could die in a major outbreak and around 140 could become very ill. Concerns were raised after a recent tangi was attended by many people. Two of them were from out of town and didn't realise they had Covid. Wairoa District Mayor Craig Little has the latest update.

10:28 Ukraine human rights leader fears for her safety

Two million people have now fled war torn Ukraine and some of those not involved in the fighting fear they might still be specific targets of the Russian military. Last weekend three aid workers were killed outside Kyiv when their car was shot at. The family of one of the victims claims they were deliberately targeted by Russian forces. Local and foreign journalists have been also been fired at and some killed. Tetiana Pechonchyk is the head of the Ukrainian human rights group, Zmina. She fled the capital last week for the west of the country but says she still doesn't feel safe.
