Should NZ offer some academic roles only to women?

If 91 percent of Australian maths professers are men, and 28 percent of maths students are women, how many men should be allowed to apply for a vacancy as a mathematics lecturer at the University of Melbourne? The answer is zero.

The university says it needs to redress gender imbalances at its Faculty of Science and will only accept applications from suitably qualified women. Should New Zealand consider following suit?
