Oranga Tamariki 'did best' placing teen with gang member

From Morning Report, 7:21 am on 12 March 2018

Oranga Tamariki has backed the decision of staff at its predecessor Child, Youth and Family, who placed a 14-year-old boy into the home of a Mongrel Mob associate and who later went on a crime spree with him. The boy's family believed he would be housed at a motel for several days. Oranga Tamariki's care task force manager, Peter Whitcombe, spoke to our reporter Timothy Brown about how the organisation differs from Child, Youth and Family. But he would not address the review of the teenager's care. Since interviewing Peter Whitcombe, RNZ reporter Timothy Brown has received further information about the case. He talks to Susie Ferguson.
