Southern DHB may be punished over blinded patient

From Morning Report, 7:36 am on 17 April 2018

The Southern District Health Board faces possible disciplinary action over treatment delays that cost a man his sight. A report from Health and Disability Commissioner Anthony Hill says the DHB breached patient rights by delaying follow-up eye appointments between 2014 and 2016. But Mataura man Kobe Brown, who lost his sight in his right eye after delayed treatment in 2015, doesn't expect the board will face any real sanctions for their inaction. Nigel Millar, chief medical officer at the Southern District Health Board, discusses the report with Susie Ferguson.
